Positive changes for 2017

A new year does get you thinking about changes you'd like to make for the next twelve months. With January now very nearly over I'm reflecting on the month that's been and the positive changes I've already been able to make this year.

Dirty Bones Shoreditch - Brunch Time

You may be familiar with Dirty Bones. Their first restaurant opened on High St Kensington and the second in Kingly Court, just off of Carnaby Street. Which are both great locations. They've now added to their roster a third home in Shoreditch in an incredible listed building with some original features like the beautiful bar. Claire and I popped by to give their brunch menu a try and it sure didn't disappoint. Prepare to feel hungry, I apologise in advance and then advise you book up a table for a boozy brunch this weekend. Without further ado I ordered the Shoreditch crumpet with avocado, which came with chunky goats’ cheese, avocado and garlic guacamole with a spicy sriracha drizzle. Claire opted for the beetroot-cured salmon toast, which came with homemade goats’ cream cheese served on toasted San Francisco sourdough. After that we shared bourbon poached pear and banola; Slow-cooked Scottish oat & flaxseed granola, thick set Greek yogurt, sweetened with roast banana purée, Bourbon poached pear and honey. Our waiter also insisted that we tried the cheesy chipotle beans, which I likewise insist that you try too, they were good! Having breakfast/brunch out is a real little luxury that I really love! You also can't beat having good food, and good company along with a rather photo friendly location. Dirty Bones I shall see you again very soon!

Joules in the city

Shoreditch is our usual stomping ground on the weekends, and we were spending this particular day with our two closet friends Meredith and Pete. Meredith was kind enough to take the snaps in this post of Ollie and I and the portraits of me. We stopped by Rough Trade to browse the records and an obligatory trip to the infamous photobooth. We've made it tradition that every time Meredith's over we take a trip to the photobooth. On a side note I have been looking for the perfect yellow rain mac for around 3 years now. I'm aware how ridiculous that sounds, but when I get a picture in my mind or particular item I won't settle for less than what I have in my head. So when I spotted this Joules rain mac a few months ago I knew it had to be mine!! I then spotted a few other pieces that were such classics I couldn't resist them, a white shirt and breton. I love Joules' bretons, I remember the first time I spotted their added little tag on the sleeve at the top and thought it was such a nice additional design quirk that make their bretons theirs. I'd also found a few pieces that I thought Ollie would love including the two tone chunky knit pictured below. We wandered around the shops at Spitalfields and grabbed coffee and cake at the department of coffee and social affairs, one of my faves (as most of you already know). We ended the day with dinner at Pizza East before returning home to indulge in cheese followed by homemade banoffee pie and a movie. You seriously can't beat quality time with friends!

I'm wearing rain mac, white shirt - Ollie's wearing navy jumper all from Joules

Post in collaboration with Joules, all views and opinions of the gorgeous clothes and perfect rain mac are my own.

Clerkenwell Grind

Starting your day in the right way can really set your mood for the rest of the day. So when Claire invited me along to Clerkenwell Grind for breakfast I'd have been a fool to say no. A good breakfast is the ideal way to start the day. You may be familiar with 'Grind' their founding cafe and bar 'Shoreditch Grind' on Old St roundabout. It never fails to put a smile on my face when I go past and see their latest quote/joke on their cinema style sign. They now have eight locations across London and are continuing to expand.

Paris Photo Diary Pt.3

A very Happy New Year you lovely lot. Today I'm taking you back to Paris for my final photo diary instalment from my trip with Ollie back in September. These photos are from our last two days in Paris and the weather had really cheered up compared to our first very rainy day in the city (see post here). We didn't have any set plans for our two last days so it was really lovely to just wander around the city and check out places we'd not been to before as well as revisiting a few old favourites.
