Farewell 2016

My my my what a year it's been, perhaps the best one yet if you ask me. 2016 had the world questioning whether we could start all over again, can we press restart, plug it back in again?Thats not been the case for me though.

Feeling 22!

I awoke on my birthday a couple of weeks back to lots of wonderful texts from friends and one with the link to Taylor Swift's ’22’. Needless to say it was the first song I listened to that day and it set the tone for the rest of the day.

Cambridge Satchel Co & Betty Magazine

The second of my festive shoots with The Cambridge Satchel Company and the lovely Charlotte Jacklin and Charlotte Melling, the ladies behind Betty Magazine. Charlotte Jacklin started Betty Magazine whilst she was at university and it started as a 20 page zine, it has evolved tenfold since then become extremely successful independent magazine, thriving in today’s independent publishing market.

Paris Photo Diary Pt.2 Disneyland

Everyone that knows me well, knows I’m a Disney LOVER!! So when we booked our tickets for Paris and I checked the Disneyland Paris site and there was an offer on it was an absolute no brainer! Ollie and I hadn’t been to a theme park together before so where better to start than the most magical franchise of theme parks, start as you mean to go on!! On my Disney World bucket list are the California and Tokyo theme parks, they both look incredible.

Paris Photo Diary Pt.1

Looking back to September and my last trip to Paris with Ollie. This was only the second time Ollie had visited Paris, so we did a few typically touristy things, but also had a good explore of the city. Our first day had us exploring in torrential rain, but it did brighten up the rest of the trip for us and we enjoyed much better weather. I hope you like this photo diary of our first day in Paris.

Day Trip to York

A few weeks ago I got the train to York for the day to shoot with the lovely Frances from Imogen & James. This was our 3rd shoot together and I think it was my favourite yet. Our first was in Winchester where she used to live before finishing uni and the second was in Cambridge, which is one of my favourite cities in the UK.
I had never visited York before and was excited to see the city first hand with my camera. Whilst we did whistle stop trip across the main city shooting for the day I definitely know I’d like to return to York for a long weekend with Ollie and explore more of the city and make a trip to Betty’s for tea. There was a very long queue when we walked past, which had me double take, but us Brits really do love our tea and cake. I haven’t made enough of an effort to explore more of what this beautiful country has to offer. I definitely want to change that and get planning long weekends and road trips around Great Britain in the coming months. Well maybe once the colder weather's on its way out and spring's in bloom.
We had our very own tea and cake over-looking the beautiful cathedral whilst catching up before starting our shoot. The blogosphere is an extremely saturated market and I love seeing people succeeding and sharing their unique and creative ideas with their followers. Working with Frances reminds me why I started my blog 5 years ago and how important it is to stay true to why I started my blog and what I’m writing and doing it for. I really enjoy reading and looking through Frances' blog, her articles are interesting and informative and her imagery is wonderful; totally not based on the photos I’ve shot with her, as there’s lot of other photos for you to have a look through too. I think you’ll agree that it’s so important to support and promote one another within this industry. Go and check out ImogenandJames.com and give her some love. I hope you all like these photos from our shoot in York. Have you ever been to York before? I’d love your tips on where I should go on my next visit.

Autumn Enjoyments

Autumn rolls around each year the clocks go back and the evenings get darker much earlier. This happens every year, so why I am still not used to it? This year I am trying to embrace the darker evenings by getting cosy and wrapping up in a jumper and reading a book. In fact I’m currently reading ‘The Little Book of Hygge’ and I'm enjoying it a great deal. I may even do a post once I’ve finished to tell you my thoughts on it and what I’ve done differently since reading it.

Sketch Afternoon Tea

This post is seriously overdue, back in April I finally got to visit Sketch for Afternoon Tea in the gallery room with my two closest friends Emily & Meredith. As soon as I saw an image of the powder pink room on instagram, I just knew that I had to see it for myself.

Ile de Re with La Redoute - Take Two

We are back in Ile de Re for today's post, the second instalment continuing on from my last post where I was with La Redoute shooting a look book with Hannah and Erica. I can honestly say this was a very surreal and exciting trip. Being flown out abroad to a location I’ve never been to before to capture a look book for a brand I love and with influencers I admire. I sort of had to remind myself over our glasses of wine at dinner that this was actually work! Now that’s just incredible, if you’d have told me I’d be doing this exact job a few years ago I’m not sure I would have believed you but would have tried my damn hardest to make it a reality and what do you know...

Il de Re with La Redoute

A couple of months ago La Redoute invited me out to shoot in Ile de Re, and it wasn’t a destination that had been on my radar. It turns out it 100% should have been on my travel bucket list. It was one of the most dreamy locations I’ve ever shot in and it’s safe to say I shall definitely be returning.

I was joined on the island by the La Redoute team, Hannah from ‘Hannah Gale’ and Erica from ‘The Edited'. I'd followed and admired both of these lovely ladies blogs from afar before this trip. It was so lovely to meet the ladies behind the blog and get to know them on this trip, and we all had such a blast shooting on such a beautiful little island. I loved seeing their choice of outfits for the look book we shot with La Redoute, I ended up coming home with a wish list longer than my arm!

Here are a few of my favourite things about Ile de Re...

The colour palette is a sea of muted neutrals. The residents of the island have to paint their doors and shutters in a set colour palette, meaning dreamy backdrops are around every corner. We did spot one house that didn’t appear to be playing by the rules, and you’re sure to spot it in my next post. It's such an idyllic location, from the cobble stones to the painted shutters and to the ports and mariners, a photographers paradise if you ask me.

La Martiniere is a family run business, they have a few locations across the island, famed for their incredible ice creams. We could sure vouch for that, they were AMAZING! So amazing in fact that I didn’t even get the chance to snap a photo on my camera, just a phone snap which you may have already seen on my instagram. We also visited their La Flotte branch and got to try out their incredibly beautiful frozen pastries; check out my insta of them here. They were delicious and so delicate, they were like tiny works of art! They also sell macaroons and a range of candles, which were a wonderful little memento to take back home. I’m not sure the ice cream would last more than a minute, let alone the plane journey.

The atmosphere of the island is wonderful. Everyone just seemed so laid back and chilled out and we certainly took the lifestyle on board whilst we were there. I love the fact that they close their shops 2 hours a day for lunch, something I could never imagine happening here in the UK. No one seemed in a rush to be anywhere. It was bliss! It makes you take a moment and think about what's going on at that moment and what's important.

That’s not the last you’ll be seeing of this beautiful little island and La Redoute’s fabulous Autumn Winter Collection. I have another post lined up that will be coming to you very soon.
